Atenu Educational Technology Lab
Researching the future of learning
for African classrooms.
AETL is the research and innovation lab of Atenu Foundation. We build technology-driven learning systems — AI tutoring, digital assessment, simulations, learning analytics — with Ethiopian students in mind, and the African continent as the horizon.
Research pillars
Five focus areas where we believe applied research can meaningfully improve learning outcomes in Ethiopia and the broader African context. Each pillar is at a different stage of maturity — we are upfront about which.

Most academic labs don't have real users.
Most startups don't do serious research.
AETL is positioned to do both — feeding research into real Ethiopian classrooms through the Atenu network, and bringing real classroom data back into the research loop.
